el desfiladero de jabalíes
y los montículos del tejón
Con la impoluta urbanización
viene a barrer las sucias gallinas
y con ellas estos ignorantes
a los que la tierra llama en voz alta
apagando las últimas llamas
Sonrrie confiado, impune
de camino a la fiesta del partido
seguro de su parte del botín

Between White Teeth
He holds the deeds
between his white teeth;
only a frail barrier of old men
holding up their heavy banners
stood before him, as in ancient times.
Between his teeth he carries away
the green grass of the horses
on the other side of the road,
the ravine of the wild boar
and the badger’s mounds.
With the spotless development
he comes to sweep away
the dirty chickens
and with them these ignorant ones
whom the earth calls out to loudly,
